Magic still lingers in the mist-covered corners of the world, wherever the Old Ways are remembered. However, as civilization and reason scoff at the Fair Folk, the paths to power have been forgotten by all but a few.

Lily Boyd was meant to become a faerie doctor, a warden of humans and a keeper of balance, until disbelief and pragmatism led her away from the hidden world and into a mundane life. But truth has a way to be Heard and she will be forced to face it if she wants to save her family.

Armed with nothing but her childhood memories and protected by a debt of gratitude she doesn’t understand, Lily must decide who to trust while she navigates a world that is darker and more twisted than she is prepared for.

And should she make the wrong choice, should she mistake friend and foe… the eternal balance between the Faerie Courts may shatter, and then there will be more than Lily’s life on the line.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Nougat! I’ll confess I’m an addict. And I’m really glad you asked this question, because when asked, it’s usually a choice between chocolate and vanilla, but Nougat needs some love, too!

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Buttered toast with strawberry jam. If in a pinch, I can eat some other jam, but strawberry will always hold a special place in my heart (stomach?).

Night owl or early bird?
Night owl. In fact, my productivity levels before 10 a.m. are pretty close to nil and some days I can’t even string a coherent sentence at such ungodly hours. My morning routine involves getting up, having breakfast and listening to music for an hour or so to properly wake up before I can get anything done… and even then, most if not all of my story writing gets done after dinner, between 10 p.m and midnight.

One food you would never eat?
Just the one? Okay, then… innards. In any way, shape or form, but particularly brains. Eeks!

Skittles or M&Ms?
I actually had to look Skittles up, so I guess I’ll go with M&Ms. But the chocolate ones, not the peanut ones.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
Batman. No, really. I swear.
Then, my family enlightened me and explained why I couldn’t be Bat-man, and I decided I wanted to be Scrooge McDuck, because the man (duck) had a friggin’ pool of gold coins, and wouldn’t that be cool. Again, I was gently discouraged from the idea, swell though it was.
I think the crushing disappointment of not being able to grow into an obnoxiously rich duck put an end to my “little” days and made me become a premature adult, because I followed that aspiration with mundane ideas about being a computer scientist and such, until one day, while in college, I realized I could be a writer.
It was like going back to kindergarten, where I’m happily staying for the moment, thank you very much.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
Well… part of me wants to buy a small cottage at a natural enclave where I can get lost from time to time to write.
The other part of me wants to geek out and buy a super computer that will run every one of my favorite games, thus putting an end to my unlucky strike (honestly, when the machine is powerful enough, I don’t have a good graphic card, and when I do get the graphic card, the games are obsolete for Windows 7… it makes a gamer girl cry).

Print or Ebook?
Ebook, because I finally—finally—own all the books without needing to buy a larger home.
I still get prints when it’s a series/author I really enjoy, so that I can hug the book and attempt to get it autographed.

What movie are you looking forward to this year?
Guardians of the Galaxy! I’m a huge Marvel’s Avengers fan, and there’s a raccoon with a machine gun.

What else could I possibly want?
I’m also looking forward to Maleficent, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Hobbit 3… What can I say? 2014 is a good year for me to go to the cinema.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is....
I don’t know, I feel bad coveting books born of my fellow author’s blood and sweat. Rather, I wish the books I write touch some reader, somewhere.
If the series were to become a huge franchise, like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, well, I wouldn’t be adverse to the idea…

What is next on your to read list?
Book 3 of Claire Robyns’ Dark Matters series, A Matter of Desire and Dirigibles. It’s a steampunk/Victorian fantasy I discovered very recently and I’m just devouring the series.
In audio, I plan to catch up with Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series—I’ve gone through eleven books in less than 6 months!

Any other books in the works?
Sure! On the one hand, there’s the rest of the Faerie Sworn series, planned to be three full novels and three shorts (0.5, 1.5 and 2.5).
Then, there’s Fall from Grace, an Urban Fantasy about fallen angels in a world rapidly turning apocalyptic. It’s going to be fun!

Thanks! You’re awesome! :D
Thanks for having me over, Michelle! I really enjoyed answering your questions. I look forward to being around again soon!
