VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR [Interview + Giveaway!] Journey to Landaran by Judy Goodwin

Aidah begins seeing visions through her brother’s eyes. He’s a Firestarter, gifted with the Talent to control light and heat, destined to become a Sun Mage in the great city of Landaran. But he doesn’t want to leave without his sister. As storm clouds gather, Aidah dreams of a beautiful man, a frightening man, calling to her.

She fears the truth. That she may developing a Talent of her own, one that will change their lives forever.
The power to read minds. To possess bodies. To travel inside dreams. In the world of Ernid, Spirit is the ultimate power.
Nations will go to war over them.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Strawberry. I like it so much, I even wrote a silly science fiction story about it and how it saves mankind. No really!

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I’m not much of a breakfast person. I love dinners and desserts the most. So I guess it’s not surprising that my favorite breakfast items can be eaten as desserts—doughnuts and pastries. And coffee. Coffee is a must.

Night owl, or early bird?
A little of both. I like to sleep in but when I wake up, I’m instantly alert and ready to go. I like to joke that my “off” times are four in the afternoon when I have a slump, and four in the morning when I simply don’t function. I typically get up at 5am most mornings and go to sleep about 10:30pm. On weekends I stay up until about 2am and sleep in until 10.

One food you would never eat?
Human. I’m really pretty open about trying most things to eat. Yes, I’ve tried beef heart, haggis, chicken feet, frog legs, rabbit, elk, ostrich, alligator, and pretty much every kind of sushi. I wouldn’t go looking for dog but if I were in China and I was offered it, I might try it. Yes, I’d even try bugs, though I’d prefer that they were cooked.
I’m not a big fan of Brussels sprouts, however.

Skittles or M&Ms?
M&M’s. Chocolate. ‘Nuff said.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I actually have always wanted to be a writer. I used to create picture books at age six with poems that I wrote, then moved to short stories in elementary school. My mother has a drawer of all my young literary creations.

You have won one million dollars what is the first thing that you would buy?
I think I’d pay off my house first so that I wouldn’t have to pay a mortgage. Then I’d buy three tickets to Australia first class for my honey and my kid to go on a trip with me.

Print or Ebook?
Both. It depends on the book. For most fiction, however, I usually buy eBooks nowadays. I LOVE being able to carry dozens of books with me in my light little Kindle!

What movie are you looking forward to this year?
The newest Muppet movie. I’m a sucker for Kermit. I’m also awaiting the final installment of The Hobbit from Peter Jackson, and the next Avengers movie.

Finish the sentence- one book I wish I had written is....
Huh. I’ve never ever thought about this before—I don’t envy another writer for what they’ve created. But it would’ve been cool to have written Harry Potter. I still really love that series.

What is next on your to read list?
Doctor Sleep, by Stephen King. I also just started the second book in the Mortal Instruments series.

Any other books in the works?
I’m currently writing the next book in the Spirit Mage Saga. Things are only just starting to get interesting for Aidah and Tavish!

Aidah's power to read minds. While my favourite power would be anything related to healing (or full destruction...yep, I'm pretty bipolar), this one sounds pretty cool as well. As long as this power isn't ubermegasuper strong it's awesome...but...one book I read with this superpower actually became boring to read because the main character couldn't be surprised by anything. I think it's a complicated power to write about, because it can be kind of confusing to describe.

Aidah's supernatural skills are very intriguing! The thought of traveling inside a dream is such an interesting concept! I would love to have that skill!
