BLOG TOUR [Interview + GIVEAWAY!] A Thousand Perfect Things by Kay Kenyon

Book Blurb:
In an alternate 19th century, there are two warring continents on an reimagined earth: the scientific Anglica (England) and magical Bharata (India). Emboldened by her grandfather’s final whispered secret of a magical lotus, Tori Harding, a young Victorian woman and aspiring botanist, must journey to Bharata, with its magics, intrigues and ghosts, to claim her fate. There she will face a choice between two suitors and two irreconcilable realms.
In a magic-infused world of silver tigers, demon birds and enduring gods, as a great native mutiny sweeps over the continent, Tori will find the thing she most desires, less perfect than she had hoped and stranger than she could have dreamed.

Do you like the spotlight or lurking in the shadows?
I love the spotlight. However, I am an introvert. Is this a contradiction? (A: Yes, and this is why I'm a little crazy.) Real answer: No, introverts are just easily exhausted by social interaction. An hour on stage without having to schmooze is heaven for me!

How many books are in your TRB pile?
According to my Goodreads list, 19.

What is next on your to read list?
Wolfhound Century by Peter Higgins.

What one item would you eat for the rest of your life?
Coffee-soaked biscotti. Or in evening, soaked in a nice Chianti.

What is the last thing you bought?
Very expensive cat food for Sumo who has suddenly decided he shall eat nothing but the $1.50 a can stuff. (And we're talking very small cans.)

Pet Peeves?
OK, mad-housewife stuff here, but sticky juice rings on the kitchen counter.

Pizza or Pasta?
Pasta. Preferably with Chianti.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I ride a Harley Davidson. (OK, I ride on the back, husband driving, but still...)

If you had 24 hours alone how would you spend it?
If money were no object, I'd be in Tuscany. Since that ain't gonna happen, I'd go on a road trip. A writer has Got to get out of the house.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Cleopatra. I mean, a powerful woman in the ancient world? Oh yeah. This assumes I could speak ancient Egyptian. And knew what to wear.

What do you do in your free time?
I read books and maintain a big garden of perennials, tomatoes, roses and aphids. Ride motorcycles. Cook. Maintain lifestyle of an extraordinarily discriminating orange tabby cat.

Can you share a little about the current title you are working on?
It's a fantasy called A Thousand Perfect Things about a Victorian woman pursuing magical powers in an altered India. Not all fantasies are medieval in setting. Some are alternate histories, playing with what might have been if a certain period had possessed magic. Much about my alternative England and India is historically accurate, such as Victorian repression, British colonialism and the Raj in India. Some is pure magic, such as monstrous cobras, kraken of the deep, ancient ghosts and exotic magics hidden in jungles and palaces. There is also a love triangle among my heroine, Tori Harding, Captain Edmond Muir-Smith and Prince Jai.
Now available in print and on August 27 in eBook from your favorite bookseller.
