What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?

Warning: these Grimm Prequels are like snap shots of a magical land you're about to visit soon. I like to think of them as poisoned apples. Once you taste them, you will never see fairy tales in the same light again.

This Grimm Diaries Prequels are a number of short books in the form of epistolary diary entries. The diaries are more of teasers for the upcoming series: The Grimm Diaries, allowing you to get a glimpse of what to expect of the series. The 6 diaries are told by The Evil Queen, Peter Pan, Little Red Riding Hood, the Devil, Prince Charming, and Alice Grimm
The first book in the Series will be out in February 2013, called SNOW WHITE SORROW.

Series Description:
The Grimm Diaries are pages written in a Book of Sand, where each fairy tale character confessed the true stories once altered by the Brothers Grimm two centuries ago. To keep the truth about fairy tales hidden, the Brothers Grimm buried the characters in their dreams to never wake up again. But the curse is broken now, and the characters are allowed to wake up every one hundred years. They intend to tell the truth about really happened, and about an untold cosmic conflict between fairy tale characters.

Opal gets a dirty old suitcase for her birthday. She's not impressed. Her grandfather tells her she'll need it, because she's going to live with her great aunt on Broken Shell Island. Opal wonders if her grandfather hasn't gone senile, because Broken Shell Island is a made-up magical place that their family friend Flora Fritz writes picture books about.

Oh, but the island is real. And magic.

Opal encounters magical plants, animals, and danger, too. The evening she arrives, a body is discovered in the woods, not far from where she passed through. Worse, a terrifying creature has emerged from the ground, and it hungers for the innocent, whether the people of the island believe in it or not.

While young Opal is eager to fit into her new life, perhaps becoming a witch, she's mainly concerned about surviving her first week. Riding a unicorn is not quite the experience she expected, nor is her first encounter with hair-styling pixies.

Life is beautiful, magical, and perilous, on Broken Shell Island.

Like most teenage girls, Kate Pierce-Keller is struggling with a lot of changes in her life. Her parents are divorced, she's trying to fit into a new school, and her grandmother has suddenly popped back into her life. As if things aren't confusing enough, Kate finds herself strangely attracted to the glowing medallion her grandmother flashes in front of her. That blue light turns out to be the start of a grand adventure that takes Kate across multiple lives and eras as she tries to piece together how an ancient wrong changed her fate. Kate's estranged grandmother, it's revealed, is a time traveler, and Kate possesses the same power. A wrong jump put her grandmother in the path of a killer, creating a timeline in which Kate and her whole family never existed. Readers are swept along with Kate as she struggles to understand the past, future and present. Conversations effortlessly flow, even though a few characters can be long-winded, and descriptions strike a satisfying balance: rich with evocative imagery but not overburdened by details. Well-depicted young Kate is full of questions, assumptions and emotions. Her family may be flawed, yet she's committed to setting the past right to ensure their future. The plot moves along rapidly, taking Kate into situations that are both fantastic and believable. Walker indicates that this is only the first book in a series; teens interested in fantasy, sci-fi or good old-fashioned romance will be eager to find out what happens next to Kate as she travels through her first love, adolescence and time.

Sharp writing, a flair for dialogue and a big, twisting imagination."
